SHINE anyway!

“Forget your perfect offering.  There is a crack in everything.  That’s how the light gets in.”  – Leonard Cohen

The SHINE Mission

So what if we’re a bit flawed!  Imperfect.  Not exactly who we want to be…

…Let’s SHINE anyway.094

Let’s accept ourselves fully –all of it – the good parts and the bad – the darkness and the light – let’s embrace the full spectrum of what it means to be….human.

Get ready to break through your breakdowns – transcend…transform…rebirth…Get ready to SHINE anyway.

Join me in yoga, meditation and the expressive arts.

Yoga is for everyone – all ages, genders, fitness levels, and mental health states.  When you learn to align your body in optimal ways, you can improve your physical, mental, emotional and social well-being.   When you are aligned – you can shine.

Shannon’s classes feel so great because they are inspired by her many great teachers, with a focus on the teachings of her main Teacher Trainer Todd Norian, and the teaching methods of Ashaya© Yoga:  a style of yoga that focusses on “biomechanical alignment techniques with empowering and spiritually uplifting heart virtues” (see Todd Norian – Ashaya© Yoga – Ashaya Yoga).

Imagine gaining a tool you can use to help you sleep better, relax, deal with stress, improve your memory, increase creativity, help you tolerate difficult circumstances, and bring more love into your life – well Meditation is indeed that tool!  Meditation is not about emptying the mind, Meditation is a way to master your mind and its many types of thinking patterns.  Through meditation, you can learn to truly see the thought patterns you currently use, in order to create more empowering thought patterns that will enhance your life.   Meditation is like polishing your mind – you clean and clear out anything that is no longer serving you – so you can shine and share your true authentic self.

Like yoga, meditation is for everyone – all ages, genders, fitness levels, and mental health states.  Because we are all unique beings, we are all likely to be drawn to, want, and require different types and styles of Meditation – so Shannon’s classes offer a variety of meditation techniques – there is something for everyone.

“Make art work for you, instead of making works of art!”

The expressive arts combines the use of a variety of art forms (drama, dance, movement, music, visual arts and writing), for the purposes of healing, growth and transformation through creative and playful self-expression.  We all have the capacity to be our own healers – but sometimes, thinking and/or talking about our problems just doesn’t cut it – sometimes we need to express ourselves in a more abstract, artistic way.

Like yoga and meditation, the expressive arts are also for everyone – all ages, genders, fitness levels, and mental health states.  With expressive arts – the focus is never on making great works of art, but instead our focus is to make art work for you!  Therefore, no prior experience, nor even ‘talent’ is required to explore expressive arts tools! You will never be judged or critiqued – so come express yourself.

  • Come as You Are – all parts of you are welcomed – your bright Light and your murky Darkness – there is no judgement here – feel free to be YOU.
  • Empowerment – people don’t need to be saved or rescued – people need knowledge of their own power and how to access it.945233_771053902547_1499542027_n
  • Personal Responsibility and Commitment to Growth – we are each responsible for our own growth. Growth means leaving your comfort zone – so don’t expect all rainbows and unicorns.  Let us each take responsibility for our own dark nights, knowing that if we stick with it, the bright light of dawn will come again, and again, and again.
  • Choice – make up your own mind about what is right and true for you. No dogma or preaching – just choices.  Pick and choose what makes sense for you.
